Today today, I got both good news and nice things, not a bad day at all. Today I purchased some great new photo equipment most importantly, but also a coral BCBG Max Azria Runway dress, which I have in white...and now coral...because I can and it is fabulous. I also got two bangles from Alex & Ani which I have been very intrigued by for about a week now. The two gems shown here. I really liked both the imagery and what they stand for. Seeing as I am a huge fan of symbolism, these two choices are both something I find aesthetically pleasing and their meaning is comforting. The first is the "path of life" it represents Strength | Motivation | Knowledge.
Emblematic of life's zenith and nadir moments, this charm illustrates life's twists, turns and unexpected winds, all the while complimenting the beauty in its pattern. The second is the "seven swords" it represents Love | Radiance | Strength.
The Seven Swords represent the seven Archangels: Michael, Jophiel, Chamuel, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel and Zadekiel. Theirs is a world of love, symbolized by a radiant flame. In embracing love, human beings can experience their presence for themselves.

Our first stop to eat before SoHo this weekend

So this past weekend Dylan and I ended up having a great 2 night stay in Brooklyn and as it turns out most of it was spent eating. Overall the trip went really really well, we got there early and not lost gained an extra night at the hotel for FREE, and had a much needed break. We started off at The Canteen on 4th st. in Brooklyn right before we hopped a train to SoHo. The Canteen was a random discover last time we revisited and made sure we stopped there again. It's clean, new, fresh food a great place to get a fresh sandwich or panini. Really reasonably priced somewhere around Panera's prices, even a bit cheaper. There I enjoyed a mozzarella, tomato and Basil on fresh bread the "Mediterranean in a sandwich" if you'd like to go and order it! The next morning we enjoyed our "sentimental" rather continental breakfast at the hotel, which I both loved and hated. I mean there is only so much you can expect from a hotel buffet at an express inn hotel, but the cinnamon buns where definitely worth it! But being hyped up on sugar from that meal only lasted so long and I had long awaited (6 months to be exact) to go back to my decidedly favorite restaurant in Brooklyn JOLIE! After a really nice day of great weather and walking Smith st. & Atlantic, we made it a point to stop here for a cheap and beautiful lunch. Greeted by a sweet French guy and seated in the back area we enjoyed the view of the back garden without the cold. I'm in love with their tartan and jam with butter, its a super special yet to be found jam. Then onto the main course its a country style mini cheese ravioli grate en. Baked to pure perfection, the half portion is enough, thought next time i will be getting much more. It's just in a word perfect. We skipped dessert with plans to return later that day to another favorite we discovered last time Provence en Boite! A great little Patisserie and Bistro with goods directly from France. After a quick nap we woke in need or a much deserved coffee and dessert. At Provence en Boite I got an espresso and some type or seas-creature looking chocolate mousse pastry, while Dylan got a black coffee and a sleeker looking mousse. Really enjoying our time there we went on shopping. Not long after our shopping and exploring day was through we needed, what else but dinner?! Having missed the night time on smith st. last trip we where pleasantly surprised at all that lit up. Really beautiful and mellow at the same time being bustling. It was great to just walk up and down and choose a place we'd fit in, literally...push in. We decided on Verde a very nice spot for a reasonable dinner. Here we had a super friendly waited that accommodated my vegetarianism without making me feel like an ass. Is was great service, and really great atmosphere. Here Dylan and i both enjoyed penne alle vodka, while it was good it wasn't anything I couldn't make myself but it did the job. The drinks where good, very large and priced like Boston $9-$11. Not bad at all. The only thing I do regret is the type of payment, having both been charged 3 times each it seems like a good place to pay cash, I'm still waiting for things to clear up. After our dinner at Verde we where in the mood for some great drinks and to continue to great atmosphere we keep getting lucky with. So a few store fronts over we stumbled on Apt. 138 still on Smith st. again it turns out to be really beautiful inside, busy but welcoming, everyone smiles and humbly relaxes. We immediately got a seat at the bar the drinks came well and fast. I enjoyed a ruby red lemon drop martini. Really well made regular size decently priced at $9 nothing crazy. We sat here for a few hours and where very welcome to do so enjoying a few drinks at our leaser. The decor was a mix between modern design in an old building space with both exposed brick and inset candles on the sleek wall on the opposite side. There was a workshop or old salon feel with the mirrors behind the bar framed but old waxed wood and brass ornate hinges and selves. I really liked this place, we did not get a chance to try the food but it's a perfect place for an evening drink. And finally for our last day we decided to skip the "sentimental" breakfast and go for something a little more fulfilling, so back to the Provence bistro we went. Here we enjoyed a really large breakfast and unfortunately a bit pricy as well. I got the omelette with swiss and tartan, jam and butter. Dylan struggled in ordering just some eggs and toast, which ended up being their version of an open faced omelette, 2 sunny side up eggs and tartan (really expensive toasted petit bagget). It was what we both wanted and needed so we ignored the price, but I may be returning there to either only share a plate or stick to mid day coffee and desserts. On our final lap of Brooklyn we headed to Williamsburge where I HAD to visit the Mast Brothers Chocolate factory. No really it's a beautiful tiny tiny factory where they produce directly from bean to bar theses super high end, decadent dark chocolate beauts. I honestly thought it'd be bigger but it was tiny, made smaller by huge bags of the bean in the middle of the floor to direct the line waiting to purchase. When we arrived there was a cute girl and cute guy both working happily and expertly in this industrial space that again was a mix of old printmakers shop turned willywonka hipster style, quiet and cool. I noticed a wooden table with books and wine glasses maybe a space for a tasting session which I'm thinking might be a really nice birthday surprise for me this December, if Dylan and I don't end up making it up to Canada. They displayed their bards under vintage glass like a very old candy shop in 1812 or something. Raw beans against super-beautifully printed papers, encasing the chocolate. Their new flavor dark coco with almonds and sea salt where there to try and it was amazing, a small piece being enough. We ended up getting the "stump town coffee" bar where they use coffee beans roasted in Red Hook, Brooklyn. They help out locally owned companies which I really liked and went along with this sense of colours and I got during the whole trip here. The other We went with was the "Dominican Republic" 70% dark Chocolate. I had asked for a fruity flavored coco and this is it apparently. Both totaling $14 with a cash only rule. I was ready for this price tag and really wanted to check out the place. I love and would like to look into the design and paper element they've added to the shop. Wrapping each bar in a beautiful almost english wrapping paper type case, all great colours and patterns, defiantly something to keep and collect.

All in all this trip to me was really enjoyable and successful. As I've come to notice food played a big roll this time around and I look forward to going back to Jolie again and again and can't wait to go try more new things soon.

So I am back after a fashion weeks hiatus. I thought I would cover more of the runway and events of this years fashion season here, however I took the time to myself and to take in what was going on. To continue the fall fashion feel I thought I would give you another look into BCBG Max Azria's fall 2010 line, continued. This is the second and third part in the three part season 'Age of Decadence' which is ironic and mesmerizing given everyones financial state, but it seems to be working. What I really like most right now are the silken slouchy blouses with bold prints, as well as the cleverly knit sweaters with high-low hems. Take a look!

Hey people so I've had a lot going on in the past week or so. Today I shot for the Melrose Farmer's market and will be putting some personal shots I captured up here and my website next week. From there I will be working for a co-op which just purchased a building in my town that will host beautiful and fresh locally grown all organic foods. I will travel with the owner to the farms spend the day take photos and have them as the core images in this new market, very exciting! I also am in talks with a modeling agency to build portfolios for some models as well as cover events, so I look forward to having a lot of new work to share as well as more information on both of these projects next time.

Jenna Wilson and Cary Vaughan are the team behind ace & jig. They met ten years ago and today they give us a well rounded simple and classic line. One of there beliefs which absolutely comes through in the clothing is to create a seasonless collection, with focus on fabrication and quality. They have such reverence of their craft and draw inspiration from heritage textiles and antique texture. They have genuinely grown as a brand and designers. These clothes are simply elegant and deserve to be looked at twice to see what they really have to offer. Just lovely. {images via: daily candy}

So for a couple weeks now I've been meaning to post images I've been dreaming over of various interior shots. Things along the lines of my future apartment, loft, and studio spaces since this is in a very serious two year plan for me. However I stumbled upon Sibella Court through the Sundance channel's new show Man shops Globe. Knowing of Sibella Court in the design world I'd always appreciated her work, but hearing the story behind her work processes, seeing her spirit on film and generally taking in the culture she was drawing inspiration from was really quiet darling, and it became an experience of the artist not just the work. I really enjoyed both this show, her work and life's journey. So I was inspired to look more deeply into her more current designs and outside of my continued obsession with interior spaces right now it would also be nice to share with you her abilities as a photographer, painter, and collector. But for now I will stick to the visuals of her design and spacial work since she dedicates herself and her shop The Society Inc so vehemently to this. Coming up with 10 new paint colors along with an entire theme, title and design to go along with these colors she changes her entire workshop every three months. I especially love her drive to create, her desire to learn & explore as well as her appreciation for small things. In knowing how making those that are small integral to the wider focus and understanding through her general approach to her surroundings. I know that if I had the money and privilege to work on such a large scale as she, I would love to work along side with her.

So lately New England has been in a heat wave and I'm really feeling the summer! Either that or the fact that I have no AC in my car and i always end up in traffic on the highway in 100 degree weather. Either one we're really "in it". Last year at this time we where all stuck in heavy down pours. Will we ever be happy? Oh New England! In other summer event news, I just did a amazing photo shoot on the beach for a friend, they came out beautifully and will soon be posted up here!

Paul Smith Spring 2011

You can't knock a good thing. I viewed Paul Smith's Spring 2011 collection two days ago and it really floored me. It has such a beautiful cohesion within the collection but it manages to really strike a cord with quirky details too. Mr. Smith incorporated beautiful geometric necklaces, with floppy bow ties, mixed with beautiful prints and pulled it all together with an attitude of every generation's rock cool. I really liked 99% of this collection and I'm happy to share some of it with you.

So I've decided to post all of my 'collected' images over the past couple of years. I have found something in each one of these images. Maybe they struck me as visually interesting, slightly sentimental, or strange. Whatever it was at the moment for the most part I love them all still and I would like others to see where I sometimes get inspiration from. All of these are going to be untagged, I don't recall where I got most of them anyway. Visual things to let go of, in hopes that I can remember them better by seeing them for what they really are, rather than keeping them in a folder. To me this will help in small steps to being able to let go of bigger things soon.

So here are a few shots from the BCBG Max Azria fashion show held the other night at the Liberty Hotel in Boston. It was an interesting runway and feel and like the space unconventional. I loved the interior and the layout of the walk, they where so close as you can see they would pose just for me! It was a fun night with lots of great fashion even the girls in the crowd looked as good. I would recommend going to the fashion shows they host every week.

Bri Cheeseman and Andrew Prince, are the team behind Sydney based label Secret Squirrel Clothing. Although far from Boston I find myself inexplicably close to what they are presenting in all of their collections. I found myself over these past two rainy days, going over and over all of their collections on the site. I present to you their winter 2010 collection "The White Album" Loosely based off the Beatles aptly titled music venture. I think anytime anyone combines music and fashion as a collaborative effort it is the likening of a genius and daring as a devil. It can go so wrong and gladly this went so completely right. It hints at an era, yet it is so modern and so youthful with a refined elegance it's truly timeless. At this point in my life I am very interested in investing in pieces that can fit who I've become and compliment my individuality as an artist and stay classic at the same time, somehow they've done it! I felt it was appropriate on these rainy days to show you this beautiful winter collection, but if you are hinting at a more summery feel check out their collection from summer 2009 "Skies over head" Like I said completely defying time, they're still a fresh style I'd wear out the door tomorrow, if it stopped raining! Oh! And can I just say they have the coolest names for their clothes like "the birthday suit jacket" or " Danny Boy Pants". amazing..

So this morning my friend and manager Shannon spoke to me about her personal fashion perspective and it got me thinking. She said she likes to choose things that are unexpected, with a wow factor. I loved that, and it really got me thinking about a different way to approach personal style. About a year ago I found myself unexplainably drawn to things that where in essence unexpected, for me. I was at a point of choosing things that I almost hated and needed to incorporate into my life. I think this is still true of my personal approach a year later, but I really liked Shannon's way of telling it!

Mara Hoffman's Spring 2010 collection is like a big huge popsicle for your body. I'm in awe of the use of color and patterns. The cut, drapery and all the inventive lines seem to be hitting the models in all the right places, it makes me want to buy the whole collection up! It's an exciting line with perfect seasonal color trends, imaginative silhouettes and just dead on energy!

Summer Begins

Yesterday turned out to be a really great day. It was a day off, I felt like it really leant itself to being the beginning of the summer season and best of all i got to spent time with friends! We all met up and had a beach day, complete with ski ball, fake rings, and plenty of classic photo booth action. It was great and I can't wait to go back!

So i've been feeling really lucky that all my friends seem to be having birthdays around the same time, it's been a fun few weekends and this one was no exception. The amazing Ariel will be leaving us all soon to leave for portland on her life's journey, so we threw her a 22nd birthday bash/ going away/ cinco de mayo party! It was a fun night and the mariachi band was for sure on fire.

BROOKLYN pt.2

So in my last post I'd mentioned all the lovely places we'd gone to shop but somehow i failed to mention where we ate! This is funny to me 'cause upon return I couldn't help but telling people where and what we ate, I was so pleasantly surprised at all the good food. The first day we got there after unpacking in the hotel we took a stroll around and found a great Deli. Unfortunately I couldn't find a photo and really can't recall the exact name, CANTINE I think it may have been? It was beautiful outside and super fresh and delicious food inside. On our second day we stuck to Brooklyn and had out lunch at the beautiful french restaurant JOLIE. On our way there we had been walking for quiet sometime and found $20 on the ground! This made for and even better lunching experience. Although I have to say the prices where very close if not exact to Boston. At JOLIE we found a beautiful,clean and almost young restaurant, playing Phoenix on the speaker. We were seated and got great service, and some amazing sweet jam of some kind. I ordered a mini baked ravioli and it ran $13. Perfect portion, perfect taste, perfect everything. The staff were attentive and very nice. The food was amazing and the price was right. We skipped dessert as it was only lunch time and there was much more shopping to be done. Again on our leisure we came upon the Provence en Boite on Smith Street. Here we took rest and some coffee. We enjoyed a little atmosphere and some amazing pastry, almost like a french interpretation on tiramassu. I failed to get any Madeline's to go but did enjoy the fluent French being spoken around me and the whole feel of the place was beautiful. Again this place was inexpensive compared to boston and my daily starbucks habit. It was a lovely adventure and will soon be returning to both places, hopefully bringing Dylan along with me.

Dear Fieldbinder

So it has been quite some time since my last post. I am pleased to say there was good reason. I recently went to Brooklyn NY with Dylan for his birthday! Our long awaited trip was short but sweet. It turned out to be good weather and a great ride. We found ourselves in all the right places and shopped for a full two days. Right away we went into times square, soho and back to brooklyn. I have to say our second day was my favorite. We enjoyed each others company while exploring the neighborhood of Brooklyn on a nice sunny day. We shopped Smith street, Atlantic street, 5th Ave. All the greatest shops we set out to see were in-fact seen. A few of our standout stops would have to be :

Up and Down

So coming off of a week of feeling just lousy I thought I'd revel in things that really make me happy. And today waking up early, with sun, good weather and good music really did the trick. I'm currently obsessed with the Shout Out Louds new album 'WORK' and Teavana's dark chocolate jasmine infused discs! They are just the greatest! I also thought I'd score some designer wear at Target, only to find out the clothes don't come in until next week. Either way it's something to look forward to. I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

tHe Horse..a tiny collection

When I was in high-school, I wrote a very effective article criticizing a Sketchers ad for not showing their product of shoes in the actual ad. The Horse does something similar, but it is so adversely effective it becomes brilliant and useful. The Horse is a tiny, mini shoe collection founded by Gabrielle & Scott. Their website is almost as alluring as their collection of shoes. Two in each, the GUYS and DOLLS category. The women are adorned by the 'Dorothy' and 'Joan'. I will be purchasing both. And the men are graced by the 'Arthur' and the 'Charles'. The Charles being a great gift idea for Dylan's birthday maybe! Either way, with the grace of The Horse naming their collection in the vein I would name my future dog, everything from the gallery section of photos to the clever youth and classic feel they present, I don't give a shit if they show the shoe or not. It's beautiful, young people actually appropriately matched with these fashions and I feel at home with this work. It's, as I said, classic and fun, and really feels as though they took my own friends, put them in an ad, and at the end of the day there are a few shots with the shoes...so it's a win win.
